I ain't seen you since leaving high school
When we'd cut class to go and shoot pool
I was standing there by the door
When your dumb ass hit the floor
I remember
You were watching the Rose Parade
Thinking this year, you might just get laid
But then you took one toke over the line
Or maybe three just to feel extra fine
I remember
Did you think it took a genius
To put two and two together?
Now get up off the floor
Oh, Jerry, why'd you do it?
But Jerry, could you remove it?
It's gonna stain up the living room rug.
I arrived home just the other day
In time to hear that you'd gone away
You left all your problems behind
In a little black bag, well, never mind
I remember

I could really never go home again
Life just would not play fair
The world it seems don't co-operate
That's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes
I never knew just how you saw me
I used to watch the late-night shows
But then the ache landed on my front step
That's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes
Now you say that you want to go alone
I guess that I can be there too
And when I see you picking up the slate
That's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes

Why argue with you
Till I'm blue in the face?
It never gets nowhere
It doesn't leave any trace
And sometimes I feel
That I'm going insane
Baby-cakes, I think
that you're eating my brain
'Cause you don't understand
No you don't understand
You don't understand
You just don't understand
How am I to contemplate
As you sit there thinking you're so great
I'd ask for a break but you don't know what it means
I feel you're tearing me apart at the seams
You can feel that you're owed something in life
But all that gives me is BS and strife
I wish that it would all go away
Still you're in my ear all damn day
Why argue with you
Till I'm blue in the face?
It never gets nowhere
It doesn't leave any trace
And sometimes I feel
That I'm going insane
Baby-cakes, I think
that you're eating my brain

Opened up my e-mail
Looks like I got a file
Better sit back and relax
This could take a while
Somebody's flashing their hoo-ha
Another's making a bet
Don't think that I can deal with
Pictures on the internet
Hillary Clinton's drinking wine
Bernie Sanders's got a bird on his head
Donald Trump looks like a tree
Pictures on the internet
You will see some strange things
Now between you and me
I've even seen pictures
Of your grandpa's colonoscopy
All of these technocrats
Just want to do some good
But people don't use their inventions
In a manner that they should
We're not talking about Zimbabwe
We no longer talk about Tibet
All that we care about
Is pictures on the internet

Hey Jude
Come on, Joe
Don't make that sad song
Any sadder than it already is
Hey Jack
Get back
Get yourself together
Come on, come on
I know you're thinking of your nervous love
I know exactly what you're thinking of
Hey Sid
No matter what you did
It can work out
Work out
No matter how you feel right now
Hey George
Do your chores
Don't feel sore
It's a lot more than just being bored
There's a heaven and there's a star for you
There's a heaven and there's a star for you
There's a heaven and there's a star for you

Rats in the living room
Rats in the bath
Rats in the kitchen
Even rats in the bedroom
Where can you go
Now where can you go
Where can you go
To be free from rats
Rats in the window
Rats climbing the walls
Rats on the TV
And rats in the halls
Where can you go
Now where can you go
Where can you go
To be free from rats
Rats on the train
Rats in the street
Rats are everywhere
You want to be
Where can you go
Now where can you go
Where can you go
To be free from rats
Rats on the earth
Yeah, rats on the moon
Rats running at night
And rats resting at noon
Where can you go
Now where can you go
Where can you go
To be free from rats
Where can you go
Now where can you go
Where can you go
To be free from rats

Love, I know what I want
and I know what it could be
know what it should be yeah
Now, down and out
like a flower that wielded
the loser to be rebuilded
Sad, sad and alone
like a bubble in the desert
buried in the ground
Love, sweet and fun
this I feel would
someday be mine
Love, soft and real
something I can feel
something that is kind
Yeah, I know what I want
and I know what it could be
know what it should be yeah
Yeah, I know what I want
and I know what it could be
know what it should be yeah
Yes, I know what I want
and I know what it could be
know what it should be yeah

I was walking along the sidewalk
When I saw this building, and I thought
Yeah, I'd like to become familiar with that.
Now don't get me wrong, I know I ain't Superman
I don't have a magic cape nor have I wings.
But something so deep inside me called out
To the free spirit I knew I could find atop that edifice
I evaded the security guard and ran to the stairwell
I climbed the steps to the 55th floor and I looked around
The cityscape stretched out before me, and I had never seen it like that.
Guess I never looked at too many pictures before of all the guys
Whose job it is to repair the fog lights, wash the windows and whatnot.
At the far end of the roof, a sentinel loomed
It was a crane, and it towered at least 20 stories higher than me.
I ran to it and caressed the steel
But the dark and the rain and the wind made that a daunting task.
I descended the stairs thinking, "I must get out of here.
Maybe I can hit the store for a low-alcohol beer."
Funny I'm not, but I can tell you this
I felt alive.
There's more to the story, but I can't tell you from where I am
But it's safe and warm and I'm on the up-and-up.
And every morning, I've got sunshine streaming out my derriere,
As I sip americano from my porcelain cup.

People who work the night job
Only try to get ahead
People who work the night job
Always feel about half-dead.
People who work the night job.
Ask is it really raining again?
People who work the night job
Want to go where they've already been.
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
It's all right!
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
Oh yeah!
The night boss boss says, "I've gotta see you.
"But don't worry about it.
"You see, I'm in the same boat as you,
Take a look around and don't doubt it."
People who work the night job
Know the diffrence between purgatory and bliss
People who work the night job
End up making albums just like this!
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
Well, all right!
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
Oh yeah!

This album has an intentionally minimalist, lo-fi sound with shades of everything from country to blues to even punk sensibilities woven into the predominant stripped-down, late '60s folk style of the songs. Enjoy, and thanks for listening.
