Leaving the Rooftops
02:58
|
|||
It was rainy day in October
The entire den felt hung over
A bunch of socks and an old shirt
They had not exactly hit pay dirt
Papa said, "I think it's time to move"
Mama said, "But I like it so much here"
Papa said, "I understand all too well
But there's no way out, my dear"
Leaving the rooftops
Leaving the rooftops
The little tom never complained
Even though his life was being re-arranged
A little beanbag was all he had to pack
The family said now was time to act
They made for the trees and then hit the ground
The farmhouse still seemed so cosy
Papa said, "What are you hanging around for?
Hup, one-two, it's time to mosey"
Leaving the rooftops
Leaving the rooftops
The little tom didn't have much to say
He didn't even want to get up today
His entire world had changed irreparably
He knew he couldn't stay; he had to flee
The kid had barely gone a mile
For the first time, he broke a smile
He had no idea where to go
He'd just keep going till he found a home
Leaving the rooftops
Leaving the rooftops

The Fifty Stitch Wound
03:37
|
|||
Creepy, crawly little sons o'bitches
Plague me in my bed
But you can't see them running around
Because they're all in my head
I remember opening my eyes
To take in a world I didn't understand
My family was so stubborn
Life for them was processed and canned
It's like a 50 stitch wound
50, 50, 50, 50 stitch wound
But not that I know, it's just
Something I read
It's like a 50 stitch wound
50, 50, 50, 50 stitch wound
What do I know, a soul
Who cannot be bled
They say it's brave to go it alone
I just wanted my own life
I had to strike out and create something
I was ready for the strife
There's no turning back
There's no backing down
I know there's a new home for me
I'm approaching a new town
It's like a 50 stitch wound
50, 50, 50, 50 stitch wound
But not that I know, it's just
Something I read
It's like a 50 stitch wound
50, 50, 50, 50 stitch wound
What do I know, a soul
Who cannot be bled
Another night's passed me by
I need some relief for my weary legs
Stop signs and moving vehicles
Ditch water and muddy dregs
No-one said this life would be easy
But if I have one bone to pick
If my circumstances ever change
I'll perform my greatest trick
It's like a 50 stitch wound
50, 50, 50, 50 stitch wound
But not that I know, it's just
Something I read
It's like a 50 stitch wound
50, 50, 50, 50 stitch wound
What do I know, a soul
Who cannot be bled

Daydreaming Again
02:13
|
|||
A pile of leaves, a pink sky
Waking up, where am I?
Time doesn't even wait for cats
Gotta move, where do I go?
I could just sit and smile
And imagine all I could be
And I'll be the biggest name
'Twixt the ground, the sky and the sea
I'm daydreaming again
A concrete block, an empty plaza
Looks nice but can't stay here
This place, it hides a menace
And if I wait, it's sure to appear
Multiple legs on wheels
Racing to nowhere in particular
I would love to fly like them
Because their moves are spectacular
I'm daydreaming again
Between the street and the hills
There sits an alleyway
It's where my kind goes
To prosper or pass away
I must resist the temptation
To believe in what's good enough
A comfy piece of packaging
And all the mundane stuff
I'm daydreaming again

Along Comes a Friend
05:51
|
|||
Richard the cat said "Today's my birthday"
Everyone replied, "Why should we care?
You must think you're pretty special
You're a runt with nothing to share."
Richard took this pretty well
At least he knew where he stood
It would be difficult to get anywhere
If all he did was mutter and brood
Richard said, "I can't change where I'm from
I've thought about that for many a night
I simply want to be accepted
Do you think that'll be alright?"
"Hey Richard," a guy with a splotchy coat said
"I think I identify with you
I think it is really a hardship
When everyone else is being cruel"
"So let me go wherever you travel
And let them do as they will
Richard, you can be your own person
Think for yourself; don't be a shill"
"We're of two minds, but we think alike," Tim said
Richard thought about what he meant
They couldn't do much on their own
So their partnership seemed Heaven-sent
It's alright
Along comes a friend (x4)
Tim was the first to befriend Richard
But as in so many hard-luck stories
He was not in control
There was a cat at the back
Who wanted his pound of flesh
Brainwashing was his role
Tim shadow-boxed under a streetlight
Richard took a hit from his beanbag
This was high-on-the-hog livin', man
They would not raise the white flag
"What a wild night," Richard said
"It's my stock and trade," said Tim
"And the good times ain't over"
He added as his vision began to dim
It's alright
Along comes a friend (x8)

Oh Stitcher
We implore you to do the math
Oh Stitcher
Set those boys on the right path
Hey Stitcher
It's good to see you today
You're really raring to go
But you forgot your beret
And you will be a creature of conviction
Oh Stitcher
Please tell us the first rule
You threw out all your money
In pursuit of one jewel
Hey Stitcher
Paint your slogan on the wall
Let us know what you advocate
Divided we stand, united we fall
And you will be a creature of conviction
So when you get your revolutionary star
We shall see you for who you really are
No, you're not going back to that old farm
You're gonna stick with your comrades, arm-in-arm
Oh Stitcher
What have been reduced to?
You corrupted an entire colony
Your paycheck is long past due
Now Stitcher
It's only yourself you're fooling
A lonely figure on the corner
You're the poster boy for home schooling
And you will be a creature of conviction
So when you get your revolutionary star
We shall see you for who you really arm
No, you're not going back to that old farm
You're gonna stick with your comrades, arm-in-arm
So when you get your revolutionary star
We shall see you for who you really are
No, you're not going back to that old farm
You're gonna stick with your comrades, arm-in-arm

Won't Play Nice
03:11
|
|||
I don't understand why people scream
In dangerous situations
What good does it do?
Can't they leave this world in silence?
If you decide to leave it to fate
Yeah, it can be scary
But you have to stand up
If you really want to make it in this world
And that's why I won't play nice
They'll tell you lies
And lies make the world go round
It's the media's ultimate vice
One leader departs for another
It's all under the cover of the dark
Stitcher had some thoughts on this
But all he can do is rant and rave
I've seen through his malice and malfeasance
I'd say he was a shadow of his former self
But he never had a soul to begin with
He's a laughing-stock for all to see
And that's why I won't play nice
They'll tell you lies
And lies make the world go round
It's the media's ultimate vice
One enemy down, but more are to come
They're coelerenterants without a cause
But this next one is a doozy
He prowls the streets searching for weakness
He wasn't birthed so much as he was pupated
The most sulfurous volcano was his womb
He is the creation of Care in the Community
A douchebag, a motherfucker, he haunts everyone's dreams
And that's why I won't play nice
They'll tell you lies
And lies make the world go round
It's the media's ultimate vice
And that's why I won't play nice
They'll tell you lies
And lies make the world go round
It's the media's ultimate vice
Listen! It's all a game
A sick, sick game
I won't play nice
Fuck you, I won't play nice!

Goodbye, Loser
03:49
|
|||
He sure wasn't a diplomat
He'd crush a lit cigarette on you instead
Whenever he was lurking around
The neighbors would lightly tread
He went to all the parties
To quarrel rather than have a good time
The pavements trailing him home
Were spotted with blood and grime
It was everyone else's fault
Didn't they know he just enjoyed a drink?
He was Mr. Nice Guy
He only tried to make you think
He was a laugh a minute
As he barged his way through town
And the laughs were all on you
As he burned your houses down
Everybody complained to the authorities
Who replied there's nothing they could do
We can't violate his human rights
The judges think that's just too cruel
It's really not his fault
No-one tries to understand him
Maybe he just needs a big, hearty hug
Doesn't matter that he just killed Tim
The neighbors say he appeared off-beat
They say he did not seem alright
As he returned to his apartment
One particularly dark night
That's the place where he bottled it
Tried to slash his wrists but got high instead
But you know when the fentanyl wore off
He'd get up and try it again
And when he was cold on the floor
He felt on the outside looking in
Did nobody really care
About the needs of this fine citizen?
Goodbye, loser!

The Resuscitation
05:02
|
|||
Don't leave me now
Don't let me slip away
I am stronger than that
It doesn't work that way
My name is Tim
And I'm up for the fight
My name is Tim
Don't you shut off the light
To my old pal Richard
Take heart, I'll see you again
We will have more adventures
As soon as I'm over the pain
My name is Tim
And I'm up for the fight
My name is Tim
Don't you tell me goodnight
I want to tell the world
Search deep within your souls
We could all make it together
It might just work, God only knows
My name is Tim
And I'm up for the fight
My name is Tim
Don't you shut off the light
My name is Tim
And I'm up for the fight
My name is Tim
Don't you tell me goodnight
Goodnight
Goodnight
Goodnight
