WKRP in Cincinnati
00:52
|
|||
Baby, if you've ever wondered,
Wondered whatever became of me
I'm living on the air in Cincinnati,
Cincinnati, WKRP
Got kind of tired
Of packing and unpacking,
Town to town,
Up and down the dial
Maybe you and me
Were never meant to be
Just maybe think of me
Once in awhile
I'm at WKRP in Cincinnati

Get a load of this lot over here
They've only just left school
It's a chore to expect them to count
Yet they know that they're so cool
Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do?
I don't want to crash no parties
I don't want to rain on no parades
But everyone gotta pay attention
The world is like a game of charades
Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do?
Everybody's hit the big time
Everything's exciting, nothing's a bore
Everybody's hit the big time
The more you know, the more you score
And I wish that we could just slow it down
Yeah, we need to get ourselves together
It's not the end of the world
Don't hit the floor, 'cause I'll remember
The newsrooms are reciting fairy tales
The politicians take what they can get
The world has been turned on its orbit
A bitche's brew of insanity's a safe bet
Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do?
Everybody's hit the big time
Everything's exciting, nothing's a bore
Everybody's hit the big time
The more you know, the more you score
Everybody's hit the big time
Everything's exciting, nothing's a bore
Everybody's hit the big time
The more you know, the more you score

Splendid Idiot
03:27
|
|||
I'm a guy who likes to know the what
And I also want to know the who
So when I saw her standing on the plaform
I said to her, "How do you do?"
She told me, "meet me in the coffeeshop
Hey, nice one, I thought I'd scored
But when I took the seat next to her
She could not have looked more bored
And she said ...
Aw c'mon, you're from Pittsburgh
Nobody makes it from there
You're such a splendid idiot
I think your head's too full of air
She then proceeded to drink her coffee
And from her bag she pulled out a book
I sat there, rejected and stunned to silence
She read her tome and wouldn't give me a look
"Madam, you've done me a great disservice
And your geography is quite lax
You're entitled to your own opinions,
But not to your own facts"
And she said ...
Aw c'mon, you're from Pittsfield
Nobody makes it from there
You're such a splendid idiot
I think I'd rather play with my hair
I'll never know why she toyed with me
I figured maybe this is just her game
I guess it's time to move on with my life
I can't even really recall her name
I just remember getting up to leave
Asking if she had any more to say
She lifted her head from the book
And in that second looked my way
And she said ...
Aw c'mon, you're from Plattsburgh
Nobody makes it from there
You're such a splendid idiot
I think your head's too full of air
Aw c'mon you're from Plattsville
Nobody makes it from there
You're such a splendid idiot
And I don't know why I should care

Lay it on the Line
03:46
|
|||
Chandeliers are reaching for me
Or am I just dreaming again
The occupants think it's funny
They know I have a poison pen
Everyone knows what I could say
I would hang 'em by the hide
Though from my personal experience
It's "buy the ticket, take the ride"
I've got to lay it on the line
I've got to lay it on the line
You wouldn't believe it if I told you
How good it would be to feel
I have all of my five senses
Yet it seems none of it's real
I thought I saw her across the hall
Her paramour was sleeping in my bed
He smirked as I recoiled
He said, "Dude, you gotta check your head"
I've got to lay it on the line
I've got to lay it on the line
Amazing how dreams can be so visceral
They really can tell us oh so much
I only know what I've learned
Knowledge is power and such
The occupants have all fled
The paramour hopped the next train
She disappeared across the country
Why is it all so damned arcane?
I've got to lay it on the line
I've got to lay it on the line

You better know what you want
You know how little I got
I can't give you anything
You think I'm real cute
But who's gonna briing home the loot?
Make up your mind about
Hope you don't doubt, that
I can't give you anything ...

Tenerife 1977
03:30
|
|||
They were all off on a holiday
Yanks in a Pan-Am and Dutch in a KLM
They wanted to relax in the sunshine
But would soon be victims of us versus them
Local separatists set off a bomb
It killed no-one, its point was largely moot
Though it caused the Pan-Am and the KLM
To change plans and re-route
They landed at an airport with one runway
Its name was Los Rodeos
It was the only option that they had
A decision made to circumvent chaos
The authorities re-opened Gran Canaria
The Pan-Am was ready to take to the sky
It was trapped behind the KLM, however
It sat on the tarmac, unable to fly
Well, the KLM pilot was brilliant
But also something of a jack-ass
He decided to refuel
The jet behind could not pass
The KLM began to move down the runway
The weather was bad, the fog was rolling in thick
The Pan-Am was to follow in the KLM's wake
But unsure which taxiway to pick
The Dutch plane reached the end of the runway
Facing the way with which it would depart
The Pam-Am decided to look out for the fourth off-ramp
A move that would tear it apart
The KLM had clearance from air traffic control
Which its pilot mistook as instruction for take-off
He pulled back the throttles ...
The Pan-Am first officer glanced out the window
Through the fog he saw the KLM's navigation lights
He realized the son-of-a-bitch was heading straight for him
And he yelled: "GET OFF! GET OFF!"
The KLM tore into the Pan-Am's side
It flew to the third off-ramp and crashed
The Pan-Am was ripped right open
On fire, smoking and gashed
The Spanish, Dutch and Yanks blamed each other
But all agreed on point number one
And that was to make airline security
Safer for everyone
There were sixty-one survivors from the Pan-Am
But they were sure to never forget
The day of the bomb and the fog
And the high-speed impact when two jumbos met
It took the lives of 600 to make clear
That you must sit and wait your turn
So you don't endanger your reputation
Or literally crash and burn

Out of all the crap you threw at me
I still would have thought I stood a chance
It's not so easy now, oh baby
Is this war or just romance?
I know you better than most
Of the charlatans in my life
And I should warn you right now
That this Kid ain't so nice
Well, what are you gonna do for money?
Hey, what'll you do for fame?
Would you numb yourself for a hit song?
Or is it all just the same?
Things I might have deserved
Things I might have deserved
You dialled up your contacts
You had them reach out for free
As valid as a note on a toilet stall
"For a good time, call me"
I grew out of all the promises
And kept a notebook of all their lies
You chewed your nails in the parlour
Fate called you a friend, what a surprise!
Well, what do you think you'll do now?
Everything has morphed into a bad dream
The affair you wanted so bad has turned to ice
The cat has come to lick the cream
Things I might have deserved
Things I might have deserved
Out of all the crap you threw at me
I would still think I stood a chance
But they stopped knocking at your door
Please get your hands outta my pants
Well, what are you gonna do for money?
Hey, what'll you do for fame?
You sold your soul all for a hit song
Do as you like but not in my name
Things I might have deserved

Hey Racine
03:57
|
|||
Hey Racine
It's just you and me
You can't go back now
It's plain to see
Hey Racine
Please make no mistake
If you had one last call
You know the one you'd make
Hey Racine
Where else would you be
When we're together
I know you feel free
Well there now, Racine
If you find yourself at my door
I will let you in
To spend the night begging for more
Hey, hey, hey Racine
For you, there's no price to pay
If ever you feel down and lost
I will help you find your way
Now then, dear Racine
You know that you're the best
I am your stormy sea
And you are my tempest
Hey Racine
Are you hearing me
I am trying to reach out
I will be what you need
Oye Racine
Solo somos tu y yo
¿Volverías ahora?
Es evidente, ya sabes
Hey Racine
I pulled you back from the cliffs
You are my everything
No ands, buts and ifs
Hey Racine
Tell me, am I getting through
I would fight through at all
And work and work for you
Hey Racine
It's just you and me
You can't go back now
It's plain to see

I Had a Dream
02:15
|
|||
I had a dream about you
You were the queen of quite a few
And I was there, but you didn't care
I didn't matter somehow
The band played and you sang a tune
And the stars fell down from the moon
And you smiled a smile that parted the sea
But you didn't notice me, no
Your eyes filled up the sky and they were blue
And you had a weird monkey there with you too
And he danced a jig and tipped his hat
And he turned around with a grin so fat
And he was me
There were lights and fireworks and cannons going off in your honor
And I was worried but a man said "Don't worry, nothing can harm her"
And I grabbed the microphone and I stood all alone
And I looked up at you, and you looked down at me
And then you said "Off with his head"
I had a dream about you

A Question for 2020
01:19
|
|||
Why did you do it?
Why did you do what you did?
Why did you do it?
Why did you do what you did?
Screw your pandemic
Screw your new normal
This is not the way
To start a new decade
And 'cause of you things won't
Ever be the same
Why did you do it?
Why did you do what you did?
Why did you do it?
Why did you do what you did?

Zookie the Dragon
02:26
|
|||
He's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon
Say, he's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon, yeah
You can find him on Barrel Hill
Imported root beer he will swill
He can be seen any time of the day
He's breathes fire but he's okay
He's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon
Say, he's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon, yeah
Meanwhile, his rival Frizard
Loves to hang in his ice palace
His girlfriend Cinder relaxes
And reads that book about Alice
He's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon
Say, he's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon, yeah
His mate Aero takes to the sky
Oh how he loves to fly!
Brother Sparky flies a kite
While Ashi shows him how to float so high
And Zookie, yeah Zookie
His biggest question is to flame or fry
And while he decides that
He'll have a piece of pie -- what else?
He's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon
Say, he's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon, yeah
So next time you're in Barrel Hill
Look up Zookie and his gang
If Frizard doesn't freeze you first
Aero will send you out with a bang -- such fun!
Zookie, yeah Zookie
He only wants to have some fun
If he's not napping on the sofa
He's eating a hot cross bun
He's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon
Say, he's Zookie
Zookie the Dragon, yeah

Remember, remember the days
When we weren't so set in our ways
Now I tell you
The good times go too fast
I met you at a party
But we both knew -- both knew -- that
The good times
The good times go too fast
Twenty-eight and twenty-five
Oh how we went for it while we were alive
Damn those good times
The good times go too fast
Now I'm fifty, ooh babe
Don't feel so nifty, ooh yeah
And still those good times
Those good times go too fast
From Chicago to Crystal Palace
Our lives were written with italics
Yet those good times
The good times go too fast
A mamaluke, ooh yeah
Talking to the duke, hey now
And they both know
The good times go too fast
Get up and dance with me
Do the foxtrot, we'll be so free
Forget that good times
That good times go too fast
The good times
The good times go too fast
